Is it possible to drive my max with out the muffler. the rest of the cat is attached. I am in the middle of an install and my the sky fell and I have to go some where.

 

it will be terribly loud....

 

On my 3rd gen I had no muffler just a $2 peice of pipe I got from Pep Boys, and let me tell you that S*it was loud, just driving though a parking lot would set off alarms, and then later on I just took the pipe off had nothing there at all, and I had no problems, but I got rid of the car about 4 months after that so I dont know about long term.

 

I'm no expert.. but I would say that without any backpressure you would risk blowning a headgasket or something major if you did it for too long... (this is what I remember a friend of mine saying when his muffler fell off and he was too dirt poor to replace it)

 

I drove about five miles at cautious speeds. It was definitely too loud. Everything seemed to be ok. I will find out tomorrow when i get it on the rack.
