Electrical Problems. please help!

Started off with trouble starting the car. but i thinik that was due to the weather. and then my tailight(altezza's) lights went totally out. and then only go on when i brake. and i mean even the orange part of the tailight that stays lite.but besides that they just are all off! and then i started the car alittle later on the day, and car sakes, sounds like its running on 4 cylinders.(4cylinder maxima ...lol) and then my front corner lights are off, the part that stays on while car is powered.
also my rear window switch lights flickered and then went out.

any help would be helpful! i already tryed switching bulbs in tailights with the stock bulbs outta my stock tail's. is it possible the ecu is screwed up?

water leakage in the lights maybe causing them to short out? maybe a blown fuse? you're battery could always be dying (like mine).

battery was replaced 28,000 miles ago.

what in lights could cause a short, but there wasn't any. and why the front clears? or the rear window switches? and the idle and low powered, saking from motor, im pretty sure its not running on all 6 cylinders. i know im changing spark plugs tommorrow, just need to check coil packs

i'm pretty sure that your engine would not change from a 6 cylinder to a 4 cylinder.

*edit* unless you had some major wear and tear to it.....

I'd check fuses and look for a short. Get a wiring diagram for the car and find out what is on the various circuits. test all electrical functions in the car and see what isn't working. I think a wierd electrical load could make the engine run rough. Check all your wiring in the Altezzas and any other nonfactory mods. Look for corrision and or shorts. See if the dash, or radio or other lights work.

ok thanks for help, but also funny thing happened today, i started my car heading outta work, and then let it warm up like always in this cold weather, ran like ****,and when i started ot drive off, i noticed no rough engine, no saking, and had its power back. although my tailights still having sam eproblem, the front corners same problem, and the rear window switches still have problems. the only think i touched was the rear talights and thats it. could a bad ground be causing this?

I had the same problem on my '89. My tailights, dashlights and cornering lamps were bad. It turned out to be a shoddy wiring job on my STEREO. I would check your fuses, although mine never blew. I thought it was weird that the stereo, cornering lamps, taillights and cornering lights were all on the same circuit.

hmmm good idea, i was thinking that it might have ot do with my radio wiring cause i messed with it alittle while back, and i realized i got a bad ground since cause i heard a whining in speakers when i am driving and giving gas. also i got the Chliton or w/e name it is the book, and its got all electrical diagrams,, and im checking fuses aswell. i changed all new bulbs in tailights, and gunna check the radio. the werid engine idle and loss of power hasn't come back yewt, since this morning it was ok. i hope i get this fixed. dont need any problems will delay in my body modifications planed this springcan't wait for that
