budget y pipe question

Whats the difference between the "california spec" y pipe and the other y pipe from budget? I definately want to get one but not sure which one to get. Does anyone have a problem with emissions for inspection? I know the Y pipe takes out the precats so when you go to get it inspected do you just tell the guy to warm it up first and does that work?

cali spec, i believe, still has some form of precats and as such will work with cali spec cars.

fed spec has no pre cats

most people have passed easily including myself, but a few have failed.

dont tell the inspection people to warm up your car, do it yourself, the my car isnt street legal until it warms up wont go over well.

to find if you car is fed or cali go to custommaxima.com and look at the y pipe they sell there is a diagram that will tell you how to tell the difference.

good luck

Stupid question - when you say warm your car up before you get it smogged, do you mean drive it around for 30 minutes before going to the shop, and parking / turning it off? Or do you mean keep the car running the entire time, like when youre waiting in line at the shop leave the engine running?
