hey, i was wondering if anyone had the same problem trying to change the color of the fog lamps on their 95-96 Maxima SE (factory fogs)? I have tried many different H3 Super White bulbs like Hiper Industries (100w), Naxos Xenon Blue (100w), and Nokya (55w), and for some reason, the fog lamps still appear yellow and not super white.

Could anyone give me recommendations on what brand of H3 bulbs should I buy? I am not sure if those Ionized Blue H3 bulbs or the PIAA Super Plasma H3 bulbs will change the color of my fogs. Also, I want to change my fogs to a blueish/purplish color, not yellow! Thanks! Any advice is appreciated!

their fogs

Most fog lights take a certain kind of bulb and fogs are meant to be yellow. It will be very hard to find a super white fog. i have eurolites all around the front of my car and the fogs aren't super white but you can see the resemblance between them and the headlights. prolly not enough white for you though, white lights do not cut through fog. sorry.

Hey I'm with ya...I've tried everything and just about all the bulbs do not change the color or they blow out after a month. I finally gave up. I hear there is a guy that will make HID kits for just about any car so I may just wait until I can get the money to get the whole front done so finally it will all be one color. I almost tried just getting yellow fogs, but i couldn't find any.

Good Luck

i have piaa superwhite 55w in my foglights and they look pretty white; if you look right into it (or at least close), they have a very slight blue. maybe thats compared to the other lights in my car. they are whiter than the superwhites 9004 that i have in my headlights.

the piaas have been good, i have had them for about 1.5 years. one of the fog lights finally burned out (filament broken) so i had to put in one of the oem ones. so my car looks funny with one foglight yellower than the others...

You can get the Hella Yellow stars H3's in 55 watts for $6.50 each from Performance Unlimited in Ohio; their number is: 800.333.7862 I've had the 55 watt ones and they lasted over a year. Great color! I once put 85 watt bulbs in there and they lasted one month.

The Yellow stars are good for rain/fog/snow right? And how do they look? Are they yellow like the Lexus fog lights?

They're great on dark highway roads where there is little lighting. As for fog, I can't say, but they're good for snow and rain. But they're not as nice as the ones on the Lexus ES 300(Camry). They are not as 'strong'.
I think they (55 watt) look like the fogs on the Infiniti QX4. For the price, they're a good deal.

Put your hand on the fog lamp. It's damn hot. That's definitely not good. You'll be lucky if it'll last a year.

I have the 85W Yellowstars, got them from rallylights.com for about $12 each. I like them a lot and they have lasted me for about 8 months so far. . . There are concerns though about using them in snow conditions as they have been known to crack the lamp casing. . . So if you do choose the 85W bulbs, you might want to keep this in mind, I know I live in CA so this doesn't really apply to me. As far as how they function, they work really good in the fog. You may want to aim them a little higher as the stock configuration really doesn't put out the light that far. I have posted a straight on pic of what they look like on my car at around dusk, this should give you some idea of how they look. BTW, sorry for posting the 4 pics, it is from my website and I didn't want to upload a new one.

Hey thanks alot for the website and the visual. I kinda got an idea of how they look now. I like your headlights and clearance lights too. What do you have running in there? And do you have any pics with the lights on at night? Not just what they look like, but the type of light they cast?

I just had to replace the front lights because they burnt up the APC harness. . . They were some no name light that I got a a local performance shop, It was like Sho-Wa hyper white or something like that. They lasted about 8 months in the normal harness and then friend the APC when I put it in, go figure. Anyway the cornor lights are Polarg. . . A lot of people have them, I think they looked good with thse bulkbs, but now I have Piaa SW and they just don't match. . . I can take a pic tonight so you all can see how they light up the road. . .

Anyone ever try ION YELLOW or ION BLUE H3's in their fogs?

Even though you guys are talking about the Hella Yellowstars (which are probably identical to the Ion Yellow dichroic H3 bulbs), has anyone had any luck casting it to a nice looking super white/blueish color on ONLY A 95-96 MAXIMA factory fog lamp? Yes, I'm aware that fog lamps are supposed to be yellow, but I still would like to change it to a blueish/white color just for looks. I'm not sure if the ION dichroic BLUE h3 bulbs will do the trick, but has anyone ever tried this? Someone suggested that PIAA Super Plasma H3's will work, but is this true? Someone help me out, because my original question on this forum hasn't been answered... Thanks a bunch!

Maximagtr. . . I don't know of any that really give out a blue color that last. . . My old ones used to match the headlights I had, but I got rid of them because 1. they were 100W and 2. They kept blowing after about 3 weeks. I think these would be the only way to get the white you are looking for, and you would probably have to do some major rewiring in your car for it to handle the increased wattage.

98BlaximaSE. . . Here are the pictures I promised you. . . I did one with the fogs on and one with them off to show you where they emit light, and then one from a distance. . . Hope this helps you even furthur. . .

yellow fog light

My friend came up with a crazy idea but it really looked mean on his car. He had a mazda millinia and he wrapped the whole light assemble with yellow cling wrap from pathmark. It sounded really grimmy but I saw him driving towards me
and I thought it was a GS400 coming. No lie. I than asked him what he did and he told me glad colored cling wrap. I thought it was to grimmy so I am going with the yellow transl. spray and shoot the outsided of the assembly to get that deep yellow effect.

NP, glad I could help. . .

As for the saran wrap idea, wouldn't there be problems with it melting or maybe even catching on fire? I agree with you that the paint is a better idea, although I know the Yellowstars aren't a yellow bulb, they are a clear bulb with a oil in water type rainbow tint. Let us know how it works though.
