Budget Y installed!!

Well yesterday my Budget Y-Pipe came in!! Today I had it installed for $39. I would have been selling the stock one, but the guy had a hell of a time getting it off and it was in 2 pieces when he got done with it.

But on to the good stuff. There is a HUGE, and I mean HUGE difference. It's ****ing insane. I wasn't expecting a HUGE difference, but my god now I see why you guys always scream "INTAKE, YPIPE, EXHAUST, for your first mods!!!"

I have an automatic and from a standing start I can chirp the tires a little bit. The car pulls all over the place. On the low end you can feel it, and then at 3,500RPM the intake starts to do its job, and then at about 4,500RPM you feel it throw you back even more, like the ypipe found some more power somewhere. My girlfriend looked at me and went "OMG did you feel that?" I gave one of these . And went oh yes I did!!!

I'm in love!!!! The exhaust shop didn't have exhaust wrap so they couldn't wrap the flex section. On start up it sounds a little like bees in a can when revved. When the car is warm though it just makes a hissing sound. It's not so bad, but I will probably wrap it though. When the car downshifts and it's going up hills slowly, you can hear it hum a little bit, too, which is bad ***!

I recommend ypipe immeditaly if any of you out there haven't gotten one. Simply bad ***!

Well I believe it took a week for UPS to pick it up from there shop. It then took about 5 days to get to my house. All in all it was well worth the wait.

The budget Y-opipe is like $180 shipped right? If this is true, why is Stillen like $200 bucks more? Is Stillen better or are you just paying for the name? I plan to get one soon, and want to spend as little as possible, but I also want quality.

Well STEALIN is $220 or whatever because your paying for the name, and maybe slightly better quality.

My Budget Y Pipe was $250 CDN. $265 CDN shipped! What is that $180, $190 USD? I don't know really know anything, about Stillen, Warpspeed, or Cattman's versions, but I have read about the budget being a GREAT product for the price. And I couldn't agree more.

On start-up it has a little rattle, but when the car is warm it makes a hissing noise, and for some odd reason I kind of like it, lol. I have noticed my STOCK muffler makes a tad of different sound as well. It's a little more raspy, but still quiet, and it only happens at low speeds. I love it when your hauling ***** and you back off and you can hear the ypipe just go hummmmmmmmm then die off.

My little brother loves it too, its great!!

stock Y pipe. Unless your car is nice and toasty, and the cat is at its optimal emissions performance...it wont pass california emissions with an aftermarket Y pipe. you kinda need to hedge your bets. some guys make it, other guys fail.

I still have my OEM y-pipe packed away for that reason . You never know. I will still try to pass with the Warspspeed though, don't feel like changing it if I don't have to. I will just drive for a long while to get the cat nice and hot.

I'm still waiting for sound clips of the ypipe on a stock exhaust car before I buy it. I don't want any increase in sound whatsoever since, well, it's a maxima and I don't want to draw attention to the car.

I don't know all the maximas I've heard with y-pipe had a catback or the rear section muflers on, so I can't tell you how much louder it would be.

Sorry, i don't have a sound clip, but with a totally stock exhaust, there is really no increase in sound. It's more like a change in tone of the exhaust...it gets a little deeper than before, and that's about it. No one knew i had it unless i told them, even then some people in my car club didn't beleive that i got one, because my car sounded the same. Now that i added the muffler to the mix, it sounds so mean...it's great.

Actually, there is no raspiness at all with my setup, because the stock resonator is still used, and it really does a good job getting rid of that raspy sound.

Stillen:

Budget:

The stillen looks much nicer, and is shaped slightly differently...so basically you pay more for the looks. The black burns off the budget pipe anyways. But who sees what your y-pipe looks like under the car?

Then dont get an aftermarket muffler! A'pexi is very quiet, or at least the quietest I've heard on a maxima. Stock muffler keeps it nice, but my stillen muffler on the other hand is a whole different story.

try it without the wrap, see ho you like it for a few hundred miles. if you dont like the sound then put your on the ramp and them wrap the Y. Thats what i'm going todo.

Same here with fab'd b-pipe, aftermarket muffler, and OEM resonator. No raspiness what-so-ever.

I have a stock bpipe and muffler on and the muffler is louder at low speeds and idle. It makes a humming sound. I think it sounds pretty nice. But I'm planning on getting an Apexi WS. They sound soooo nice, IMO.

Oh ya one other thing, my ypipe didnt come black, it was just grey/silver whatever you want to call it. Does stink a little bit, probably the oil thats burning off inside the ypipe. It's going away, not as strong as it was yesterday.

if your cat is totally warm, you can still pass...but its a so so kind of thing. but that doesnt mean you shouldnt get a y pipe. our testing is every 2 years (or is it 3?) so that means that you need to spend 1-2 days every couple years with the stock pipe back on, pass emissions, and slap the after market one back on. Put anti seize on the bolts, and get some wheel ramps for ease (makes oil changes easy too, and a lot of under car work that doesnt involve removing tires)

If you are looking for a great sound go with the Apexi Ws. But I would not recommend that you get a y-pipe. From my experience from owning an apexi and budget y, the both of them comboed together doesn't sound good. The apexi catback sounds godly by itself. It gets louder than usual. When paired with a y, there is a slight farty sound to it.

apexi is good for sound, but useless for power gains, the piping is narrow

yes I know that, i'm not dumb. The stillen pipe comes w/ a nother piece that attaches to the end of the y pipe is excluded from the picture, which replaces the portion on the CA spec models- stillen didnt have a picture of that piece on the site.
