wheels hubs...

how do you know when you need to repack or replace wheel hubs....simply play with the wheel when you have it jacked up? how do you repack hubs and with what?

when you start hearing a rumbling type of sound that changes with speed and you know that it is not the tires. It sounds like going over rumble strips but not as loud.

If it is the rear hub bearing that is going bad, then you just replace the entire hub and bearing. They are one piece.

If it is the front hub bearing then you have to seperate the steering knuckle from the suspension, press out the hub, press out the bearing from the hub, press in new bearings into the hub, press in the hub into the steering knuckle and then install the steering knuckle.
