Mxima Mods for a nooby

I am new to this forum. I own a 94 maxima and wasnt really into doing stuff to it you know just a work car to be driven.
I still have it 94 GXE 240,000 or so still running.
Wel i just got me a 98 SE 5spd and am looking at doing some stuff. Not to extreem but you know some little stuff. I have been browsing the threads and have found a bunch of cool mods to do but cant really take it all in.
I would like you guys to fill in the blanks that i put out here with good upgrade suggestions. I dont know all the lingo yet so please put whole names if poss. And what would be good to start with. I have tryed to use the search to find info but for some reason it wont work.

1. MOTOR
intake, intercooler, supercharger .......
2. SUSPENSION
struts, strut tower bars, springs........
3. LIGHTS
i want clear tails and sides and i would really like to have the blue lights like whats in the BMW's but i get all kinds of confilickting stories about what you can and cant do.
4. Anything else you can think of that i forgot.

I love my maximas and you guys make me love them even more!!!

Welcome. I agree the lingocan be confusing especially at first. Read the FAQ sticky threads above and the MaxFAQs on the home page...those will help you a lot. We've had a lot of trouble with slow speeds or something so only paying members (I think those who donate at least $20) can use the search feature. For handling, I have the front strut tower brace (FSTB) and the rear sway bar (RSB). You can easily get them both for less than $200, and I thought they made a big difference. As far as performance, the Y-pipe and some form of intake seem to be a really good combination to start with. Don't know about lights, but it's on here somewhere.

Please don't get altezzas, they are the ugliest thing you can put on your max. Since your's is 97-99 you can do a red/clear mod for just about 3 dollars, and it makes the car look soo sexy.
As far as performance goes, get a y pipe(Budget is the cheapest and is of good quality from what I've read) and an intake. Also a catback/b pipe are supposed to complete that combo.
The blue lghts you are talkingabout are called HID, you can get them for just $415 from www.xenondepot.com 9004 is the bulb size for maximas, and since you want your lighting to be blue, you probably want the 5000k bulbs. Note: stay away from cheap *** HID companies, you will regret spending your money on them in the long run. Stick to Phillips/Hella/Osram.

Hope I was of some kind of help.

These are Generation 2 Altezzas. They do fit perfect; no modding involved. check out www.cardomain.com and search for MAximas. Some people have Altezzas, some have the Red/Clears, some stay stock. Good luck.

I like the choice in tails. The red/clear tail mod is cool but, if you do it yourself(DIY) you risk damaging the tail-light assembly if you're not careful. Then you end-up having to buy a new one which can be expensive from the dealer, or go to a junk-yard and find one. The altezzas may be a little ugly, but I like'em. Click on the "S9" down below. It's a link to my CarDomain site and go to page two for shots of my Gen. II altezzas.

There's a very low chance of damaging the housing, but if you think that you might f*ck it up, you can just buy red/clears from http://custommaxima.com/RedClearTails.php but i also think that you can get them for as low as 100 bucks on other sites... ebay maybe?

When I first got the maxima, I went with the intake: it makes your car seems like you got something wicked under the hood. Then maybe a suspension(H&R/AGX) to get rid of that 4x4 look.
Be warned though basic mods always are the most fun to put on because they don't require a lot of money and time to install them. When your car starts to get more complicated, that's when you have to think about if you want to put more money and time into it.

I obviously knew you were being sarcastic. I just thought you were getting on Drew for mentioning his site. I wasn't offended at all so it's all good...
