The 95-99 Maximas have three (3) oxygen sensors in the exhaust: two upstream in the y-pipe (one in left bank, one in right bank) just past the exhaust manifold and 1 downstream near or in the catalytic converter. Sounds like one of your upstream sensors is out or is going out. Each sensor from the dealer is around $100 for the part. There is a website that has them cheaper. www.oxygensensors.com
Bad O2 heater means that your O2 sensor is taking longer to warm up. If you are around 100 k it may be the time to replace the sensors. This code would make your mileage to suffer. I got my sensors from www.thepartsbin.com and they were aprox $ 70. They are Bosch ,and they have the connector installed.
When my O2 was bad (the front one) I measured the impedance and everything looked ok .I also tried to play with the connectors...I had no code for about 1 week,but later the code appeared .After O2 sensor replacements ,no more codes. Sometimes a bad O2 sensor may also trigger a KS code. (Please correct me if Im wrong) So you may end change a good KS .

yeah....i was kinda confused with the word "heater"......thank's for clearing it up.
but i do have another question: if one can do self-diag. test and tell what's wrong with the car, why the hell do mechanics use computer that costs ($5000)? i'm asking this because the mechanic told me that even after replacing the O2 Sensor he still needs to hook up to the ECU in order to reset it, i told the guy that i will reset it myself (the screw), but he said that it should be done through his computer and of course it costs money ($75 extra).

BS! Dont let him charge $75 for reset the ECM ! Back off from that guy. You already know how to use the screw to pull codes from the ECM and reset the CEL lamp. Save $$ from your knowledge.
