i have a warpspeed y-pipe and i love it. one of the best mods for a maxima. but there all pretty much the same. i guess some make noises cause of not being able to flex. as for body work im not sure what you mean. if your talking about the installation its not much at all. it took me about 45mins to put it on but it should be easier if you bolt arent rusted. you may need gaskets, if your are crap. just make sure you get the right pipe some are fed spec and others are cali spec. hope that helps.

i belive custommaxima.com has a guide to find out what your car is. look under the y-pipe item under the performance list.

You have a 97. Order the fed spec.

The FAQ describes how to read your firewall data plate to determine emissions equipment.

I love my budget Y-pipe

you can check the VIN # to see if your car is fed or cali.

You're ordering for a 97 max, right? There is no extra hole. The y pipe for the 95-98 max is exactly the same, regardless of whether it's a federal or california spec. The only the 99 california spec maximas have a different number of holes.

There was a thread about this a while ago. I don't think it'd fit. The 99 budget y pipes only removes the left precat, and you can't remove the other because you'll trip some kind of ecu thing. Did you see a pic of it? I'd guess it'd look different than the y pipes for the 95-98 maxs.
