Help... KYB's

I just ordered KYB AGX's last nite to math my eibach's, and now I'm confused if I need to buy strut mounts for them?? Every site I look at that sells shocks/struts sells the mounts too, but they never sell it as a set so i'm not sure.

Buy the mounts if yours are bad. Don't buy the KYB brand mounts since they're not that good. I bought OEM ones, but the mechanic said I didn't need new ones, but I had him install them anyways An extra $80 down the drain

I would put them in if you have a higher mileage vehicle. I had my AGX's installed around 100k and kept the original mounts. A few days later my passenger's side mount was toast. I had to go back and get new ones put on. No problems since. JaTan is right, go with the OEM mounts, and you will avoid a major headache. I would also recommend that you shorten your ome bumpstops, or get the KYB ones from www.cattman.com they already come shorter than the stock ones.

I would think that your mounts are good. I would go ahead and put in new strut bearings since they are not expensive.

You will notice a significant rattle in the front end when going over bumps. If you think there is a problem, you can pry up on the top of the strut mount and check for cracks, or if it's broken completely.

I wish this thread was started a few days ago, I just bought some KYB strut mounts. I would have gone with oem if I knew the KYB's were crap.

If you have not installed them yet, can you return them? Even if you can't return them, do not put them on, buy the OEM ones instead.

I did a good amount of research before I did my suspension upgrade. Every person that posted about these strut mounts had something bad to say. They all went through a tough time trying to figure out where their suspension noises kept coming from. People eventually found out it was the KYB strut mounts, after they isolated everything else. The people that replaced their KYB mounts with OEM mounts had their noise problems resolved.

I'll call tirerack to see if I can return them. What do the oem ones go for? around $80? Thanks for the heads-up.

Don't get KYB boots, they tear easy and the bumpstops they put in them are crap as well. I'd rather just cut the OEM ones and only replace the boots if they're toast. Mine were perfect when i got my suspension done, then again my car has only ~80K km's right now.

EDIT: Check my cardomain page as well as to why you should do your own work. That is a dustboot 'mounted' according to the mechanic. Good thing i checked it over before paying him.
