Hey guys i have a 1996 GLE and one day a friend of mine that has a 2000 gt was talking a whole lot of crap cuz he has 265 hp and while we were on the subject of talking smack i said that my curb weight was 3098 lbs (www.edmunds.com) and that i weighed less than him b/c at edmunds it says he weighs 3386lbs curb weight. He got all mad and said that was bull and went and looked on the inside panel of the drivers side door of my car and it said

GVWR/PNBV 4273 lbs
GAWR/PNBE FR. 2352 lbs RR 1953 lbs


so, he told me i was lying, and that i weighed 4,273 lbs. Is edmunds wrong and i really do weigh that or is my friend BSing me? And, is curb weight the amount your car would weigh if you drove up on a scale. Or is that a different weight. if we really do weigh 3100 lbs then whats up w/ all the other numbers on the panel. thanks for the help

 

damn, i pray we don't weigh 2 tons, thats benz weight.

 

maxima definately isnt 4200 pounds. its more like 3000-3200, depends on options and trans.

 

Look on your registration it shows unladen weight

I think the panel indicates weight w/ maximum passenger limit and other little thing

I think a 96 weighs in at 3001 pounds. (not sure if its different for a auto)
After y-pipe dropped around 40 pounds I rolled my max to a recycling center to weigh it and I was stoked to find it read 2940! (no spare, low gas

 

Now here's 4000+ Pounds

I weighed my car on a truck "CAT" scale. The car weighed 3240lbs with me (190lbs), 30lbs of tools and work gear, spare/jack, 30lbs of subframe connectors, and a 1/2 tank of gas. I estimate my car's race weight at the track is around 2950lbs without me in the car. The DMV lists my car's dry weight at 3000lbs. The sticker in the door jamb is the gross vehicle weight which means the maximum loaded weight.

Hahahaha the stock y-pipe doesn't weigh 40lbs, our hood weighs that much.

 

the 4000+ weight is with 5 average passengers and luggage. I.E. full capacity.

 

My car's weighs 2780

 

the 4k+ is gross weight which includs all the fluids such as water and gas and 4 passengers + 1 driver. the weight on edmunds.com is the weight of the car without any driver/passenger/fluids
