98 automatic shifting

I have a 98 automatic with 27,000 miles. I bought it with 26,000 miles. The shift from 1st to 2nd is solid and abrupt. The shift from 2nd to 3rd is more smooth. Is this the way the automatics shift?

hehe not mine..after my engine is warmed up the 1-2 shift is laggy and when 2 kicks in there a little kick. 2/3 is smoother
the major problem is the tranny doesn't down shift quick enough on its own, countless amount of time i'll be rolling at 20mph slowing down from like 40 then hit the gas and there is absolutely no power then there is a kick and it goes into the correct gear heh.

I am sorry fellas but, I disagree. Please read my post titled, "Transmission Lag Please Help". You are some of the few people who bought a Maxima or I30 with a serious factory defect in the transmission. Read my post and you'll see. Any questions, e-mail me at Maximan06@cs.com, thank you.
