Help Needed In Australia Re: Installing Air Pod On 97 Max

Hey everyone.

I'm from Melbourne Australia and own a 97 Maxima.

I recently bought an K&N air filter and adapter to replace the MAF box but I noticed this thing plugging into the box. I am unsure if it a sensor or not?

I am a novice at these things so I would appreciate any help. I had a look at the Shop Talk and FAQs and in the one concerning CAI it made no mention of what to do re sesnor. I assume that the Australian models are similar to the US - engine wise at least. Body shape is slightly different. I am gonna take some pictures of my ride soon.

It is Pearl white, 17 in chrome, king springs, 2 &1/4 inch exhaust all the way through, tinted windows and factory spoiler.

Guys if any of you can help it would be much appreciated. I feel like the lone Maxima enthusiast in a distant country!

it is the intake air temp sensor. you can either remove it from the air box and locate it near the filter or do like I did and drill a hole in the MAF sensor and install it there.

Defintly not the only international Maxima enthusiast There's a few of us here from New Zealand and Australia (have a look in the International Forum for some Australiasian Maxima discussion ). Interior and engine wise, our Maximas are pretty much identical to the US Maximas. Exterior wise, they're near identical to the Infiniti I30/I35 (apart from the bumper design on the 95-99 models)

Hey thanks for your info.

I have discussed with my mechanic and he reckons that the performance gain isn't that much. You get better results from cold air intake.

He reccomended just a KN air filter replacement for the MAF box. What do you guys reckon?

this was my first mod, and i'll tell you like this.. a friend of mine owned a 535 bmw and and he use to blow me away all the time..i put on the stillen intake.. by the way, comes with a hole to plug the sensor in.. and blew him away by three cars.. now it didn't make it the fastest but it did add gains to the car... true story..

I think the Injen intake or one of the other hybrid systems showed the best gains, according to the actual track time's I've seen on this board.

just the pod.. very simple to install..all you need is a 10mm socket
and wrench and a screwdriver. takes about 1/2 most..the cai requires drilling a hole.. it makes a little difference but not too much ..
