Installation Prices?

How much do you think it costs to get a catback installed? im just wondering cuz IF its cheap i MIGHT have someone a shop install. Also a short shifter, how much is that to get installed by a shop, and if i did it myself, how easy?

man, save your cash and do it your self. If its just a bolt on catback then trick one of your buddys into helping you. The short shifter is easy also, you can do both in an afternoon, and still have the time and cash to go to the track and see how much you improved.

do it yourself...it's not that hard, geez. A STS is a bit harder but you could do both at the sametime and save yourself about $150-$175(rough estimate) for both.

DO IT YOURSELF. it doesnt take taht long and its fairly simple. half a day max. save your money and use it wisely later... dont even bother with shops to do installation on these type of bolt-on mods. its not worth the time or effort.

What kind of tools are needed. How exactly do you install one of these. Sorry to sound like a noobie, but to tell ya the truth I am in this department. Never really done and exhaust work before. I always thought maybe some welding had to be done.

Drive your car up on some ramps or jack it up. Crawl under there and learn how the Max is put together.

Exhaust may be a pain since you are in Michigan and corrosion may be an issue. Try to remove all the bolts you can, put anti-sieze on them, and remount them. Then find a shop to remove the siezed rusted out bolts and replace them with nice new shiny one. Then install the new catback yourself.

Get under the car. Look and pull. It's not that hard. But i would recommend unscrewing the bolts and screws from the exhaust before pulling the hanger off.

I am almost positive i am going to install my catback, as i said before, but was just curious of how much an installation would be, so yes i WAS planning on installingit myself already. STS is a different story, ilooked at the thread on how to, but it seems so tough...so that im not sure which im going to go (me install or shop install) if i went to the shop for that, how much would that be? thanks for posting

I paid $60 to get my catback installed in my honda accord, so shop around, and you should be able to get yours done for a similar price.

over here in SA we have the option to do it on a hydraulic lift. The mechanics there that manage it just give pointers on what to do, i don't think they actually do it.

The STS is easy to install. It's not that hard. Just alot of time to do it. I installed the stillen STS in about 2 hrs tops. I'm no mechanic and a noobie to every part that i install on my max. But I'll tell you that this install is not that hard. Since you will be installing the catback at the sametime, the catalytic converter is not gonna be there. When you remove the cat, it's going to be a piece of cake after that. Very concise and descriptive instructions below.

sts takes a while but its simple...and i did it with my exhaust on and didn't have all my tools with me, the exhaust is preaty easy also just the rusted up polts, i had to trill out mine cause most of them broke off, but i got them done with in a hour of drilling. just get under there and start pulling sh** off and u'll understand it.
