Second pre-cat in Y-Pipe
Second pre-cat in Y-Pipe
So basically the only way to get rid of the second pre-cat in the 99 maxima's is to get the header system?? i'm probably wrong. has anyone figured out how to get rid of the second pre-cat when installing the y-pipe?

I believe the thread author is correct, at this time the only way to remove that extra pre-cat would be with headers, and even then the headers would have to have the correct hole for the o2 sensor. I could be wrong tho, I remember Budget and some other people working on ways around it. Perhaps they figured it out.

Incorrect. On the 99 Cali spec cars, you can't get rid of one of the pre-cats as the thread author elluded to. They are referred to as 99.5 cars generally - they have a 5th gen style exhaust, ecu, chip in the key, etc. They also have an extra pre-cat and o2 sensor.
