Quick alternator replacement question
My alternator went out on me tonight and my Chilton says that I need to remove the fan and fan shroud to get the alternator out. But in order to remove the fan and the shroud I need to remove the upperhose on the radiator meaning I need to drain the coolant. Is it really necessary to do this? draining the coolant isn't much fun. I assumed that if you remove the belt and the bolts that is will slide right out the bottom... am I wrong? Any tips would help a lot. Thanks.

go out and check if you really have to remove the fan, it could be for easier access, maybe you will be able to get it from the bottom if not from the top. Even if you have to remove the fan don't worry, the upper colant hose won't allow all the collant leak out, I was replacing my thermostat almost no collant leaked out when I took off the hose (just make sure you don't open the radiator cap).
