O2 sensor and Knock

Ok, I checked my ECU codes a couple of days ago and it said I had a bad knock sensor and a bad O2 sensor. I reset the ECU and then drove for 3 days and then checked the ECU codes again and it said I didn't have anything wrong. I don't really know what to do. Should I maybe take it to the dealer to get the sensors checked out? I would check the sensors myself but I am incredibly dumb with cars. I am just afraid that I am putting money into performance parts, when my Max is not even running very strong. Thank you.

i think your O2 sensor is tripping the KS. Try replacing the O2 sensor you might also wait for response from other org memebers.

Yeah that is what I figured too, but it is weird how it doesn't show up on the codes anymore when I check them. It says that it is the front left O2 sensor (I have 2 O2 sensors) so that would be the O2 sensor to the right when you open your hood right? The one that is closest to the front. Thank you for the reply.

I think it's the O2 sensor from the front of the y-pipe
The first one from the front.

Do you think I should get the sensors checked out by the Dealer being that I don't know much about cars?

Don't bother with the dealer. If it was the front left O2 sensor, then it is the one near the radiator. Just replace it and you'll be fine. Buy the OEM type one from http://www.oxygensensors.com and get an O2 socket and you're set.

Unplug the wire for the old sensor and take out the old sensor. Put in the new sensor and plug it in and you're done

Thank you for the help. Where can I pick up an O2 socket? The same sight?

You can get it from the same site or buy it from an auto store (AutoZone, Pep Boys...)

It's pretty much impossible to reach the front left o2 sensor with an o2 socket and ratchet. There just isn't enough room to maneuver. Use a 22mm wrench.

Is it possible at all, that maybe my ECU was wrong? I mean, it really does not show the codes anymore. And there has never been a "check engine light" on. Doesn't an O2 sensor trigger the CEL?

Just drive it till the code comes back....your not really hurting anything. If it comes back then replace the o2 sensor.

Thank you for your reply. I think I will try what you suggested first, and then if I still feel bad about it, I will try to test it and fix it. I am just worried about it because I have 3 performance mods on my car and I just don't know if my car is as fast as it should be or if it is lacking performance due to the mysterious disappearing of the O2 sensor and knock sensor codes (all my performance parts could be a waiste of money if I am not getting good performance. The car feels the same since I bought it so I don't know if maybe this problem has always existed or if it doesn't exist at all). I think I will eventually buy a Chiltons Manual and figure out how to test the sensors. I just hope I will be able to understand everything it says, being that I am horrible with cars. Does anyone know where I can find a Chilton's manual?

Finally, do you think going to the track would be a good test also? I mean I have never gone or anything, it could be a good base I suppose.

After a week and a half of driving around, I decided to check my ECU again and it did not give me a knock sensor or O2 sensor code. Should I just not worry about it? It really is just a bit odd that it threw those codes the first time I checked.
