diff red/clear mod?

I think remember someone metioning this before. Instead of keeping the red and clear inserts in the tail lights for the red/clear mod, has anyone taken off all of the inserts and painted the top part red and left the bottom part clear? Sort of like the tail lights on a 99 solara.[FONT=Arial]

i don't think the red can come out, but i've seen a few that have left it clear. some even paint it black in there and do the dtm mod which looks pretty sweet imo.

actually i was thinking of something similar. Instead of black I would paint it chrome or silver (something along those lines), but I'm not sure if that would look good wit the original red on the tail lights.
