vibration during acceleration...help
vibration during acceleration...help
I have a 99 SE 5sp with over 100k. I still have the original clutch.
The car drives great and I'm not getting any slipping from the OEM clutch. I do plan to replace it in about 2 months just for preventative measures.
Problem and Questions:
When I drive the car and push on the accelerator up a hill (and sometimes on level ground) I feel a vibration in the pedal and sometimes in the car itself.
Usually this happened when I'm in 3rd, 4th or 5th gear with the RPMs at about 2-2.5k. I've used Red Line MT-90 in the trans since about 15k and changed it once already about 60k. I plan on changing that soon too.
I'm wondering if this "vibration" under load is from my clutch or the trans or something else I'm not familiar with.
Can anyone help out? Anyone else have this with their car?
I'm planning also to replace the bushings in the front with Energy Suspension.
All help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Make sure there is no air leak and you're running premium fuel (91+). Could be a coil pack problem (99s have this). Go to the Regional section of the forum and see if someone local to you will let you swap coil packs for a minute to see if that's the problem or not
I don't know about clutches so not sure about that

Sounds like a cylinder thats weak. You could have a clogged or faulty fuel injector or a failing coil pack. A compression test might be a good place to start so you can be sure it's not mechanical - valves, rings ect.
