dropping gas tank

Is there a write-up on dropping the tank to give it a thorough in & out bath? Seems like a basic procedure but I want to make sure on all the necessary steps so I don't screw anything up. My imagination tells me to depressurize the fule system by removing the fuel pump fuse and crank my puta until she stalls. then is it just removing the tank itself? Has anyone done it recently to see what kinda sediments are being fed into my engine? Thoughts? Help? thanks

To see what kinda sediments are being fed into my engine....when your gas tank runs on low fuel amounts, i would think that the fuel pump is more susceptible to collecting some of the garbage that dwells on the bottom of the tank. My maxima is a 95 and I'm almost positiove that this has never been done.

Point well taken, however, these sediments which you speak of are as a result of buying gas and will ways occur/exist. You can clean your tank all you want but there will be no noticeable gains from doing so, maybe just piece of mine...but all that stuff doesn't get to your engine...hence the reason for the fuel filter...how about u change the fuel filter first?
