Cattman headers vs. Y-Pipe

I was just checking out southwest autoworks.com and I saw that they sell the new cattman headres for the maxima. Well, it says that it includes the headers plus a custom downpipe. It also said that gains of up to 20HP were possible with this product. My thing is that Y-pipes can go for $180 shipped, and get the same amount of gains. Is there something extra special about the headers, for them to produce the same gains, but cost about $600 more? Is it worth it?

i don't think it is, im getting the y pipe, if i was u i would rather get a y pipe and take that 600 or so and get a UDP and a flywheel, it would do u alot more then the hearers. i heard alot of people say that the headers didn't do much for them...but the y pipe made a big difference.

a Y-pipe is not going to give you 20hp.

If you get a y-pipe you might as well get a test pipe on ebay or a high flow cat, it will complement very well and the 2 combined [for about $220] will give you 20+ horse power. But you have to be careful for emission tests.

im thinking they are bigger diameter, so u SHOULD get some pony's out of that but the dyno's don't show that, so i guess they are not really worth it.

a test pipe or high flow cat will produce 1-2 hp max, with a small loss in TQ. A y-pipe is around 12-13hp on average. Those don't add to 20+hp.
