Let's not forget that the autos are geared taller. If you're putting down some sick amount of power, you'd probably drag better if you had an auto.

Hey maxima98vspec, I hope your a better driver than speller or grammarian because it gets very annoying to read your posts. Anyway, each has its benifits. Even a built auto(VB, TC, Other?) will have more drivetrain loss than a standard but it is definitely more consistent. The standard is cheaper to repair but is also much easier to break and the lower drivetrain loss doesn't matter when consitency goes out the window 2 outta 10 times at the track. Each has its pros and cons.

the auto is reliable when it comes to shifting, no way you can misshift. and if you have a $h!tty driver, the auto will be faster. i think its based more on the driver than on the manual being better than the auto itself

is Don's VB a good mod for auto trannies? I bought a used tranny with that on it and just wondering what I'll notice when I get it installed.

I heard that every 1 in 10 Maximas is manual. I love manual, but it does get annoying to shift sometimes. Especially when you are trying to eat a burger while driving.

uhhh....no

- A manual is 60 pounds lighter.
- A manual has much more aggressive gear ratios.
- A manual puts 5-7% more power to the ground.

It's not the transmission's fault if the putz behind the wheel doesn't know how to shift it!

Now that sounds a LITTLE more realistic. You gotta realize there ARE more autos than manuals, but still...not 2-3%...

Not a chance...i ran a 15.3 @ 91.92 w/ a 2.3 with a a k&n, hacked box, and 5th gen wheels with tall all season tires. You havent even hit stock manual times yet. But other wise manuals are always better. You can make autos faster for the track with Torque converters, shift kits, manual valve bodies, etc. But who makes their max into a strictly drag car? We drive our cars everyday...5spd all the way

im saying the manually potentially can be better than an automatic, depending on if the driver knows how to use it correctly. like i said, i would prefer an manual 5 spd, but im not complaining with my auto either.

[QUOTE=Maximum96]just about every manual car i raced, yes even hondas, they get ahead of me on a launch, then i can catch up... racing a manual max or any other manual around our same HP and torque vs. an auto max is like giving the manual 1-1.5 second head start depending on mods,...so i can just imagine what i can do with a manual, not only with a launch, but with more power and better tranny mods

auto is definitely faster if you plan on racing and dropping a **** load of money .. the five speed will give you more torque and control of your horsepower which will give you an edge if you are roll starting.. i own a auto and i owned several five speeds. this is my fastest car yet, but i still miss my five its a hard choice to make...

see, i read about this "automagic" that people are talking about. is it something special, or just what they call an automatic? and i agree, with my DR WOT mod, im happy to say my car would be able to keep up with a manual maxima, if not beat it. id like to take you up on that offer to, but youre also too far away.

yeh its just a term for auto.. tragic and magic.. i looove manual but i have a auto, and i will defend it till the end.. i got the auto so i could put more power on the ground. traction is rough when you have a lot of horse in a manual i couldn't get grip if i tried. with the auto you just put the peddle to the medal and say a prayer..also my girl has a 2001 five speed that we use to go to the grocery store...

eckohb, you're proving to me and all that you are stupid. You are ignoring physics. If you don't know what I'm talking about read SteVTEC's last post.

- A manual is 60 pounds lighter.
- A manual has much more aggressive gear ratios.
- A manual puts 5-7% more power to the ground.
