Ok people, Im new here, first post and all.... I have some tech and marketing style questions for you all about a 1998 Nissan Maxima. I have been the owner of a "rice ride" for some time (Honda civic with greddy turbo) and am making the step up into more class finally.

My real questions come in who are the major manufacturer of Maxima upgrades for performance. I am interested in Exhaust, Ignition setup, Intake installation tips etc. If anyone has suggestions, prices descriptions please tell me. Also, I hear there is a converter kit for BOSE stereo system that lets you run RCA jacks for an amp and subs... does anyone know the name of that converter and how hard the install is?

Thanks for the help, look forward to your info... PS what are our wheel sizes and bolt patterns also? And what type of headlights (number that is) do we use?

Try this link...

My site should answer most of your questions and if it doesn't then try the personal maxima section.

I have covered most mods that can be done to the car and in the "Aftermarket" section are names and links to most vendors of aftermarket parts.

Exhaust - little gains, do it if you want a different exhaust sound else spend money elsewhere first. Ignition, not a lot of point for a mildly modded car. Get a CAI for the intake, all the honda guys at our autox races were commenting on how good my intake sounds There are some bose convertors made by a company called - AudioLinhttp://www.linkmeup.com/. And the best mod you can possibly do first is to buy some better tires. If you've got the toyos, those blow chunks. If you've got the goodyears, they're a little better but far from good...

Help appreciated

Thanks for the help and information, a lot there to look at... when you say CAI intake, what exactly was it that you mean? Is that a brand or style... I was thinking of taking my K and N filter from my old civic intake and making an intake from it and the adapter piece... is that the same idea as what you talk about?

Also what is the Fbst or whatever that you mention? What light bulbs do you use? (size, style, which HID bulbs are best? how do you change them(ie easy or hard?) Final question... minus a supercharger, where do you get power in your upgrades on a Maxima? Thanks guys

Y-pipe helps a lot. Just put mine in this weekend and you can feel the difference. I think the gain is 12-15 HPs at the wheels. Got mine from Cattman for $335, but Stillen sells them too. There's also the ECU upgrade, which I heard helps alot too, but I don't have the money for that yet. Hope this helps.

Top 3 mods in my opinion...

1. Y-pipe --> best HP bang for the buck (get a Cattman)
2. The Place Racing Cold Air Intake(CAI)
3. Wheels and tires, style up to you
Tires: Kumhos- I hear great things about these
Dunlop SP 8000, 5000

Also a big fan of the Front Strut tower Brace(Courtesy Nissan or Stillen) and Rear Sway Bar (Addco) for suspension mods.

Hope this helps! Have fun and welcome to MAXIMAlcoholics (we're all addicted)
