Hey Guys. Well I have Maxspeeds on my Max and for some reason, ever scince I put on the 18's, the maxspeeds dont make the car really look low anymore. Everyone is tellin me it no longer looks dropped. So Now I plan to go to a bigger drop. I hear the Sprints are pretty deep. All Sprint owners, how is the ride? Is it that bad? I have KYB AGX Struts on my car and Plan to put new bushings on and what not when I replace the Maxspeeds. Would you recommend them? And is there anyone on here with a Stillen Kit with the Sprints? Im a bit nervious about doing this because im scared of scraping a lot.

If you have pics of YOUR Sprints, I would love to see them. BTW, are Sprints Blue? This guy is sellin Sprints on Ebay (he must be a dealer) for $150 shipped. He is always selling them so I have some time. And in the picture it shows they are Blue. Let me know, and if you have pics I would appreciate it. Thanks

Nick

Sprints are not too bad, but the guy to talk to is Ludacris...he's got the sprint/agx setup. I can't remember if he's got a stillen kit or not though. You can check my homepage as well for the drop. Later

Yes they are blue, I dont find them unbearable at all. Some say they are to stiff but I have KYB's and they ride firm but good. Since you also have KYB's I think you'll like them.
I have 18's also and like the drop.

The drop on them looks really really good man. You have 19's optimus? Maybe Sprints will make my Max look like My 18's, are 19's hahaha, but yeah your car looks good man, that drop is sweet.

Sprints blow struts and scrape like a mother.
All I know is that my GR2's were fine with my Eibachs, then my right one came through the fuking hood a few weeks ago.
People with similar setups can say what they want about reliability, all I am telling you is my personal experience.

The Eibachs are going back VERY soon...

Where do you live...mine doesn't scrape...and the streets around here are terrible. I don't even scrape going over speed bumps in parking lots.

Hmm GR2's are not recommended with sprints at all. You should use an adjustable shock or a more stuffer shock like the sprints struts that come shorter to give it a bit more suspension travel.

As far as the strut going though your hood. That had to be a bad installation or a very, very bad strut mount. That can't be related to springs.
If it was going to happen it was just gonna happen with any springs

Sounds to me like someone didn't install the front springs correctly. GR2 is a stock replacment shock for the maxima, not a performance shock and should not be used with sprints or anyother springs besides stock.

Look, I'm not one to complain about driveability...BUT the other day I was going over several tiny speed bumps and I had a difficult time NOT scraping. Much more than with my Eibachs.

Ok lesson learned. A strut and a hood later, lesson learned.
I have AGX now and they are 10x better than GR2's anyways. (in my opinion)
But hey, ALOT of things were wrong with this car when I bought it.
I discovered all of these problems within months of the purchase: fukked motor, blown stock struts, (I think from the sprints....) and various other things...
I also replaced both strut mounts just to make sure.

Ok, this is an interesting theory you have brought up. There are quite a few people here running GR2's and aftermarket springs. I would really like to hear someone verify this because I have NEVER heard this stated before.
I'm not saying you're making it up or anything.
Obviously you wouldn't post that w/o a reasonable amount of research invested.

i have gr-2's and intrax springs (1.7" drop) and they're fine. they are NOT stock replacement at all. if i believe correctly, tokico hp's are. dont' quote me on that.

The GR2 struts are an economical replacement for the factory struts. They are non-adjustable and are a bit stiffer than stock.

i think basically wat he means is that, non-adjustable shocks in general aren't ideal to pair up with lowered springs. Believe it or not, lowering springs make your ride so much harsher and 15% stiffer shocks aren't going to make up for the harshness. I don't think GR-2s are made for lowering springs because some people have had experienced them blowing moderately fast and some people have had good experiences with them. The fortunate people were lucky imo. And I've never heard of someone having non-adjustable shocks paired up with lowering springs for more than 1.5 years. I might be wrong about "GR-2s aren't made for lowering springs" tho.

there are not many struts made to be put w/springs w/more than a 1.5" drop....unless they are adjustable

hmm. Well I just bought the springs from SuspensionMax. Great Price. Im just worred of the AGX's Blowing out. SHould I worry about that? I had them for maybe a year and a half with the Maxspeeds, but Now Im just puttin the Sprints on them. They are Strong struts, but Lower springs I figured I should take more caution.

Thanks guys

Nick

The AGX's should be fine....When you take them off, press the piston down. If it comes up, then it's good.
