100 octane too much?

Hey,
I had been reading the thread on gas and how it effects everything. Anyways, I just found out that certain Sunoco's have 100 octane available for use. How would this effect the car? Would that be too much? The reason I'm askin' is I'm going to a 1/4 mile track in a week and a half for a maxima meet and want the best time possible. I ALWAYS use 93 octane. I can get 100 from sunoco, or I can just get gas at the track, which I believe they have 104 octane. Any advice?
Thanks!

The more octane the better. Although on anything shy of a turbo/SCed maxima you won't see a damn bit of difference. with 100 or 104.

It's better then 93, but you won't see a difference going from 92 to 104 in your maxima.

Um.. considering there isn't insurance on my car (meaning I can't drive it) while I'm up at school, don't know one person from hebron, and don't bother to race in a slow maxima... Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiim gonna guess you're mistaking me for some one else.

Dude are you high? Seriousy question because you sound high.

I've owned my maxima for under 3 months. Not since 97. Before that I owned a white 1990 turbo AWD DSM.

I've only lived in colchester since 2001.

Colchester's population as of 1999 was 13,600. THE TOWN YOU LIVE IN HAS 7000 PEOPLE IN IT. Whoever told you about the 500 people is a MORON and should be shot.

I'm in college... not high school... and why did you think those 3 towns only had a combined population of 500? Our high school has a higher enrollment.

Shut up. Both of you. You've wasted space on the forum for this? Take it to PM.
And it's not " The more octane the better". Smokeydriver, find out what higher octane does. Going too high isn't going to do anything but waste money. Some cars even lose power when they go too high.

The higher the octane the more clean you car will run. Its much less reactive than low octane. Which means its predictable and stable, better performance, gas mileage. You will notice the difference especially on hot and obressive days.

Actually reactivity has nothing to do with it.

The reason why higher octane makes more power is because the higher the octane, the cooler the burn. Yes that's right, the COOLER the burn. Which is why it's very important in forced induction cars. When you add boost, you increase cylinder pressure and therefor you increase heat. With a cooler burning gas, you can run higher sustained boost pressures without fear of preignition.

That's not reactivity.

Is 87 octane reactive? yes. Do you run 87 with forced induction? no. Connected the dots. Beside you said performance isnt noticable in higher octane. The more reactivity the hotter the burn. Yes that"s right, the HOTTER the burn.

YOUR BRAINS ARE NOT REACTING!

I'll go through this slowly since it's obvious you've never taken a college level chemistry course.

Reactivity has NOTHING to do with heat mmkay? Get it? NOOOOTHING. Mixing bleach and amonia is highly reactive, yet gives off VERY LITTLE HEAT.

When is the last time you seen amonia and bleach in a gasoline engine?

Um it doesn't matter. Reactivity is reactivity. The word still means the same whether you apply it to gasoline or chocolate cookies. Don't be angry that you you're wrong. It's ok.
