Injen CAI? What is the diffrence between 95-96 and 97-99?

Hey, I was wondering if a Injen CAI for a 96 Max would fit in a 98 Max? I know the Plugs for the Sensor are diffrent, but other then that, it should fit and work right? Thanks

Nick

Everything seems exactly the same except for one section where you plug in the sensor. I don't see how you would fit your '98 sensor in the '96 injen kit. I had a '97 max and was accidently sent a 95'-96 injen kit a while ago. I was able to get everything on except the sensor. After hours of fiddling w/ it I figured out I had the wrong injen. I don't think its possible.

It has to be possible to work in some way. I have the Franken car Midpipe on my car now with the Stillen Cone. The Only sensor on that whole intake that is plugged in, is the MAF Sensor. That other sensor I think I have it just hangin in the engine bay, not used. Does it really make a diffrence? And Couldnt I just plug the hole on the 96 where the sensor goes?

No because the temp sensor isnt the same and it wont reach. The 95/96's go into the end of the filter, it's kind of an oval shaped sensor. The 97-99's is different. The intake will fit fine. I dont have an injen intake, so I dont know where the temp sensor goes for that intake, but that's where it goes w/ a popcharger at least. You could make something work, just get a drill and a rubber grommett and you'll be all set.

Here is the deal; I would not recommend you buying an Injen Intake. One it is not really cold air. It is sitting right behind the Radiator. when the Radiator fan Kicks in all of the worm air hits the Pipe and makes it very worm. More likely it would pull up worm air. I made mistake buying the Injen. I will sell mine soon and buy the place racing Cold air intake, which i think only http://www.cattman.com offers it right now for the maxima. It is cheaper then Injen and it would be a lot cooler.

Cattman site is down. but once it comes back up thats what you want to get. trust me on that.

i have an injen intake. i like it. no need to cut the body or anything. as for that sensor that is jus hanging the air temp sensor. i jus stuck it in between the pipe and the silicone hose. when i got my intake. the box said 95-99 so i dont think its different. hte intake looks good.. sounds good... and it performs.

Yeah that is what im thinkin, how diffrent can it be? I just looked in my Engine bay and that sensor isnt plugged anywhere, its just chillin anyway. Frankencar didnt make a hole in there mid pipe for it, I didnt know it was actually need to be plugged in. Geez, what am I not noticing about the car now that I know the sensor isnt plugged in? lol

Not to argue with you but my and my friend were pulling info off the ecu and we got the air intake temp reading and it was nice and cool. We even drove it around for a while but it still stayed cool. i think if you completely remove the old intake and its large plastic box which blocks where the injen would possibly get most of its cold air. I love mine and it works better then i would have thought due to where its located. thats just what i've noticed.
