High Idle Problem / Question

Man, I miss the search function (going to have to donate one of these days... how much to get the old 'search' back?).

Anyway, I've developed a pretty high idle first thing in the morning (1,700 or so) that remains pretty steady until the temp is almost at operating temp, then she drops back to normal. I have an auto, so I'm sure I'm putting more strain on the tranny until the rpm's go back down... any ideas what to check? Anything simple that might be sticking? Thermostat seems O.K. (registers the temp rise same as before).

I'm not so sure... before it would only hold those rpm's for under a minute before dropping (even before the temp rise registers). Now, it not only holds them that high for five minutes or so, it might even rise during that time. I've definitely noticed a change.

ive noticed my rpms when i start it up in the morning are around 1300, then when it reaches about normal operating temperature, it drops down to about 800, then in drive to about 700. im not sure whats causing it either. It hadnt done this previously, only for maybe the past two weeks now.
