The power windows on the driver side of my 96 Max is failing. It goes down, but when coming up it gets stuck half way. I have to give it a little pull upward to help it go up. My max has 66k miles. Anyone has this problem?

Any solutions?

Thanks!

Have you tried using white lithium grease on the rubber around the window? I did that on my G20 when the windows started going up really slow, and it helped.

Yup,
exact same thing happened on my 95. I ended up having to get a window motor and regulator (from Junk yard = $100, $40 for the install - Don't think about buying a new motor at a dealership = $400+).

It was a total pain in the *** putting the widow back up...

I replaced a regulator on my 95 Max also. If your windows moves, then your motor should be fine. Buy a new regulator at the dealer (bought mine for $70.00)and install it yourself. It's not a difficult install. If you have a shop do it, it's about $150 total.

White grease + new regulator

What's that white grease thing? Is it just like a spray? I'll try that first and if it doesn't work, I guess the regulator is the next step. What is the regulator anyway?

Slow Power Windows?

On my previous 89 max I had a slow passenger side window. I started to search for a motor replacement. But then I started thinking. I had this crazy idea. I got my can of silicone with that long straw on the nozzle, and sprayed in in that channel that the window slides into. That was it. Problem solved. I almost replaced the motor. I couldn't believe that could have such an effect on the movement of the window.
I reasoned it this way.......I washed my car very frequently. And the water is very hard. Lots of minerals.Lots of residue buildup. So since then, I now make it a regular (yearly) maintenance.

Re: Slow Power Windows?

Did you have to take the door apart to lubricate it? You used a silicone lubricant? Which brand exactly, Thanks!

I used CRC Heavy Duty Silicone from Ace Hardware. It has that straw that you attach to the nozzle. This is good because you can spray directly in the track and not all over your car.Lower the window, then spray all the way around the trim around the window. Where the window will be when it is closed. I did that a few times. That's it.
Believe me, I was ready to get a new window motor. I could easily stop the window from rising. Then after spraying it was perfect. I could not believe that lubricating it could have such an effect, but it did.
I can't promise this will fix it for you, but I would try that before anything else. Sometimes there is a simple solution. Let's hope this is it for you.

My car is in the shop right now. I will try your technique when I get my car back. Hopefully this will be the solution. Thanks!
