97 JWT and TS ECU owners, How often do you check ECU codes?

Since 97 TS and JWT owners have the "check engine light" on all the time, there is no way to tell if you are having problems with your engine. My question is how often do you check your ECU for codes (and then reset it)? Couldn't your engine get pretty messed up if there is something horribly wrong with your engine and you have no idea that this is going on, because you have the CEL on all the time? What else do you do to ensure your engine is running fine? Thank you.

First of all, not *all* 97's get CEL with a modified 95/96 ecu.. some do, some dont. If you do, there may be workarounds. You can run gauges for the important stuff (a/f etc). If your knock sensor, o2's, or egr goes, you'll probably feel the power loss and can check it. Same goes for cylinder misfires and things of that nature.
