is warpspeed 4 real?

I'm kinda excited 'cause my stock exhaust is starting to leak. Midas wanted 6 somethin and the dealer wanted over $720 for the catback. I got to thinking this is my chance to upgrade so after hours of research on the Internet and here at the org, I keep going back to Warpspeed. They offer the complete system from y-pipe back for $590 + $40 shipping.

http://www.warpspeedperformance.com/nissan.htm

My 98 se is a family car so it can't be load, but I do want the HP gains. Two questions: Is it worth it and will my MPG decrease? I'm getting around 300 miles per tank. Thanks in advance for all comments.

Yeah, its worth it to me. Plus you get a power increase. If you order from them, make sure you get the new cat-back that is supposedly quiter.

And your gas mileage will only increase, not decrease. That is, provided the new found power doesn't make you drive more aggressively.

P.S. Go to the upper midwest forum and check in to the "Ohio Max Owners" thread.

Thanks, Bluebird. Your Max looks very nice dropped w/ those rims. Sharon huh, you're not to far from Cleveland. So the question is: You a Browns or Steelers fan?

I just called WarpSpeed, the woman there seemed very nice. She said that they could ship it by this Wednesday. I have to run it past the wife first.

Thanks Ceasar.
One more question: Will I see a noticeable increase in HP w/out an intake?

Does a homemade intake really work? Or would I be better off waiting a few weeks and buying a frankencar or stillen?

home made is just fine. an intake is basically an intake imo, alot of noise not much performance. they are for show and sound thats why i have an injen. they are all about the same but the PR CAI should be the best performance wise by maybe a .5hp or so....get an exhaust and intake they make you car sound like it's going fast at least

so how would this setup compare to a budget/magnaflow setup, concerning sound, price, and quality (not too worried about performance)?

Thanks to all for your input. I found a shop that will put it on for $100.

I'm calling WS in the morning to place my order.

Would I have to cut the rusted parts off? I've got the tools to bolt it on. Not sure how to get it off though. I don't even have a floor jack or ramps.

Also, I am going to go with the quieter of the two mufflers, the Dynomax Turbo.

yea if you dont have any jack stands or floor jacks it would not be worth doing it yourself. that stinks that its an extra 100 for install though

Sorry if I missed it, but did you decide to go with the complete system, y-pipe to muffler? Or just the cat-back? Please let us know the exact components you get and how you like it. I've got just a Warpspeed y-pipe, but am planning on getting a b-pipe to make room for Warpspeed's subframe connectors.

visually inspect everything and if you can reuse the brackets and hangers, then just use that $100 to purchase ramps and stands at walmart, that $100 will go a long way if you do it youreslf.

As for warpspeed, Dallas is a great guy, hes the most helpful person ive talked to for technical support AFTER purchasing the product. I'd buy anything from them after the experience ive had with them with my y-pipe. just tell him exactly what you want it to sound like and hell probably put together a nice exhaust for you

I second this. I just started working on my car myself about a year ago. If you've got the time and it's something you think you might enjoy, go for it. I've learned a lot over the past few months installing different things. Just get a service manual, and you can also get plenty of help here.

I just called and orderd the complete system "from the rooter to the tooter" with the dynamax muffler for $590. The woman that took the order said that it should probably ship this week. I will probably get it next week which is great because that will give me time to inspect everything per mansurxk and bhmax and decide if I will attempt the removal and installation myself, since I'll be on spring break.

Can't wait to see how you like it. The only real problem you may run into doing it yourself might be that the bolts will be hard to get off. Nothing that PB Blaster and a breaker bar shouldn't be able to take care of. You might need some swivel attachments to get to some of the bolts. Anything you other guys can think of to help him out and turn him into a constantly modding Maxima enthusiast?!

And don't break the o2 sensors. They're very sensitive. I broke both of mine during the y pipe install. Cost almost $200 to buy new ones. Your car is going to sound different after you install the stuff, especially the catback. Ricers are probably going to start revving at you in their loud civics. Is the b pipe resonated? For quietest operation, I'd wrap the ypipe, get a resonated b pipe, and use a stock muffler.

i just ordered their new muffler today with exactly the style of tip i wanted (yes, they let you choose from currently 6 different tips), supposedly some 5th gen had it put on recently b/c he didn't like his magnaflow (the way it sounded), so warpspeed put on this new muffler for him and he actually noticed a tiny gain over the magnaflow!!!

Good advice I'll keep that in mind.

Heyyy, she didn't say anything to me about different tips. I will call back to see what I have a choice of.

Does any one have any pics of their dynamax or magnaflow mufflers along with their tips? Or was that on their site and I overlooked it.

My catback costed $145 altogether installation + parts + labor. Muffler was $45 shipped, the rest (piping, welding, etc) was $100.

Wow, did you get all that from WS? How do you like the setup? (HP gain/ loudness) Do you have a y-pipe and intake?

I had it custom made nearby at a shop, the muffler is a Dynomax Superturbo muffler 2.5" inlet/outlet. I have an intake, and ypipe on the way. I love my setup, its deep, VERY smooth, a bit of droning and I notice a slight gain in the higher rpms.

Thanks for your honesty, did you install it all by yourself, or did you have help? Do you have an intake also?
