hoods available for 1995 maximas?
hoods available for 1995 maximas?
i just basically took over my mom's 95 maxima gxe... because hers is paid off, and mine (2000 oldsmobile alero gl) isnt... and the insurance company says im a 'high risk' and is cancelling my insurance on the alero... so i gotta get insurance elsewhere, and i can get liability insurance on her car... plus her car is faster than the alero...
but her car has a few problems... the hood is messed up, explained later in the thread) and the lights on the corners of the front bumper on the passenger side have a tendency to fall out... think the clips that hold them in are broke... i figure ill just get clear corners to replace those... it'll look better anyway...
i am looking for possible hood replacements for a 1995 (assuming 95-99 would fit though) maxima.. theres something wrong with the one on mine.. it sits lower than the fenders on the drivers side.. and it doesnt seem to have any way of adjusting it.. my mom hit a deer in it, and took it to some place that did a crappy job of fixing it... so now its got all kinds of problems with the body...
what i'd like to get for it would either be a fiberglass hood (no scoops, or anything like that, id like it to look like a stock hood, but just be fiberglass instead of steel) or a carbon fiber hood that has the stock style..
hopefully if theres a carbon fiber hood available, it'll be cheaper than what it was for the alero... because the alero carbon fiber hood (had to be specially made) was $1500 and uh... thats a little high for a car that has a fuel shut off switch when you hit 107mph....
are these available for the 4th gen maximas yet? i tried searching the forums, but it wont let me.. cuz apparently i need to send the site money...

1995-1999 maxima modifications were a lot more expensive 3-4 years ago (cuz not enough aftermarket support). but now they are a lot cheaper, probably as cheap as honda/integras parts IMO.
4th gen is getting really old now... my 1995 max is 10 years old
yeah, guess thats why the alero mods are so high now, cuz last year, there were very few mods available... (i had to make my own cold air intake) now mods for it are starting to come out... but most of them are still in the thousands, which is insane for a car that deppreciates as fast as the aleros do... its been a pretty good car though... i rolled it once and hit a tree (lost control while swerving to miss a deer) and it still looked driveable after they flipped it back over.. in fact... i hit like 5 deer in it... hopefully i wont hit anymore in the maxima...
