Will wider tires help get rid of understeer?

I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels a little shaky when taking curves in a Maxima. Understeer kicks in more than I'd like.
I only have the stock 15"s.
My question is, will street(I dunno what they are called... the soft rubber tires...) tires give me better traction?
Or do I need to change the tire and wheel size.

Different models of tires grip different amounts, get yourself some good tires:
