What do these tubes do? (pic)

OK, I figure Tube 2 is for exhaust gas recirculation, right?

So what is the smaller tube (#1) for? Where does it go and why?

(if the pic is not immediately obvious cause it looks odd, thats the midpipe goin into throttle body)

Tube #1 is a vent for the EGR system, it is not the main EGR tube.

Tube #2 is the main tube for Idle Air Control system that the ECU uses to control idle speed.
