pulley install now crank sensor code????
I had a pulley installed on my 99 and rightn away i had the check engine light com on.I pulled the code and its showing crank sensor.Do you think thats cuz of the pulley. If i swap the old pulley back on you think that will stop it?
So you had a UDP installed? I just installed mine last weekend. No problems with mine. What kind was it? I'm not sure what the crank pulley sensor senses, may be the pulley wasn't tightened enough. I don't think it can be too tight.
I had probs with the crank sensor when I installed my new clutch - but for me it was the sensor near the bellhousing. There is a second sensor under the crank pulley (which is probably what you're having issues with.
I'd check the simple stuff - is it plugged in? Are the wires damaged?
Then you can try removing the sensor and cleaning it - just wipe off the sensor tip - it's a magnetic and attracts crap.
Then you can just get more and more indept - remove the computer multiplug and the sensor plug and trst for continuity down the sensor wires. Test for appropriate open, continuity and resistance across the pins of the sensor.
Exactly what does the code say? They usuallt say 'open', 'short', 'out of range' or other wording which can give you a better clue.
