Extra speed in the 'high-end'...long

The maxima is a pretty quick car for a 4-door sedan. But I've always had the same problem when racing. I'll be able to take most cars off the line and up to about 85-95mph, but after that the car just kind of levels off.
Example:
I raced my neighbor's boyfriend's VW 1996 Stationwagon. He had a few minor upgrades to it, and it was a 5spd. We took off from a traffic light. I had 3 car lengths at 40mph, looking back it seemed as if he wasn't gaining at all. Then when i hit 95mph, he gradually passes me until he is 2-3 car lengths ahead of me at 115mph.
I raced a Lincoln V8 one night from a traffic light. We both had 18 inch Chrome rims so I don't estimate any other weight advantages except for my heavy *** system in my trunk. We were dead even up through 70, when he gradually began to pull away.
I have an auto so I see no feasable way of downshifting, i don't want to ruin my tranny. Are there any performance mods or other suggestions to keep my car going strong through the high-end speeds? Any advice is appreciated, and I do not want to remove my system, or get rid of the rims.

Hmmmm...it sounds like you need a 5 speed because when I'm racing, if I can keep up with my opponent to 70mph, it means I will most likely pass them after 100mph. The 5 speed has some wicked topend for a NA V6 and can keep up with some pretty serious firepower.

Dammit, thanks for letting me know.
I know what the third line does. It's a vent for the EGR system. Since its just a vent, its ok to let it dangle. But it is part of the emissions system, so it would be technically illegal for CA cars.
I hit 110 and it was still pullin strong, but I have cheap tires so I let off of it. I was still in 3rd gear in an auto too, before any mods... but my old 5 speed still pulled harder
