Problems changing rear brakes.. help!`

I have the caliper off, but i cant depress the piston in the caliper to slip over the new width of the brake pads. It wont go in any farther with a C-clamp... im wondering.. do I have to remove the brake hose to release pressure to push the piston back. that seems like it doesnt makes sense... any hints or suggestions?

Turn the piston clock-wise to push it back into the caliper housing. You can use needle-nose pliers or buy a tool from auto part stores ($10).

Make sure to line up the cut on the piston face to the nub on the back of the brake pad so the pad can sit flush to the piston.
