Who here has a torque coverter?
Who here has a torque coverter?
I'm looking at doing this as my next mod, anyone have this on there automatics?? If so what is your reaction?? Is it worth it? How much was installation? Did you hit the track, if so what was your time before, and after teh torque converter? And where did you purchase yours?
I'm trying to go all motor, before I go with any boost, or NOS..Thanks

WTF are u talking about? Change your trans to a 5 speed or a 7 speed? I think a torque conv is the least of your problems, (think your a bit confused, or high
) besides i don't think there are to many comp that make a high performance convertor for our cars. High stall is mainly for use when u have high performance cams they work in sync for idling and launching.

Don't listen to them. You can get a high stall torque converter for about $400-$600. You will have to drop the tranny, I reccommend a shop doing and it will probally be the same amount for instalation. It multiplies the torque at launch greatly, and throughtout the powerband a little. You could expect .3-.5 second off your 1/4 mile time with full exhuast, intake, and chip.

im surprised u guys didnt read my other posts b4, i have a built ProTC (it is the same size and weight as out TC)but i will drop the tranny myself within a month, like i said b4, i know som1 that gteched a 7.1 0-60 b4 TC, after the TC he did a 6.5 0-60, (isnt that the 0-60 time for a slightly modded 5 speed????) ,it helps alot

yes now u r aware...www.protorque.com
this TC combined with the DR mod/or VB Mod and a tranny cooler of course
Protorque can custimize just about any TC, it does not greatly affect our stall speed, not just the stall speed, but they build it so u dont lose all that power that our autos do, this gives our autos less of a disadvantage Vs a manual.
i have one ready to drop it in my tranny, but i dont have the $$ for a shop to do it, just waiting for the right day to do it myself, i will let u guys know how it is

then i wonder why the hell there was more people doing the 5spd swap than dropping a ProTC...

Of course the 5 speed will always have an advantage.
The 0-60 on the auto was fully modded. Just read the website on what protorque has to offer
There are at least three people that have one or did have one. All of them saw increased performance with little affect on everyday driveability. A big kicker with this mod id the install. While the part is relatively cheap ($300-$400), the install is a little to involved for most to try on their own.
This is for a 3-rd gen but it gives good info.

If I stay auto, this will be one of my next mods.

Yes the install is the most painful part, with Protorq, they dont only make high stall with no driveability loss for our cars, but they also build the insides of the TC, the catch is u will need to give them your original TC to get theirs plus $430 plus install it
