Power steering rack replacement

Welp ... I posted a while back about my car's offensive handling thinking it was all tire/alignment related as replies to my post indicated. Took to Nissan and had them do lots of misc. work this past Sat. I was thinking all the work was going to cost me between $500-$750. Then he calls me and tells me the PS rack alone was going to be $750 (w/labor), I about crapped my pants. Reluctantly I authorized all work (including plugs, injector cleaning, upper oil pan leak - he said this was very laborious as it is really the seal on the lower block - a CV joint and an alignment) for $1500. That included a 10% discount off the top. I'm sure I overpaid by 10-20%, but with the results I don't even car how much it cost. Once I got the car back, I knew they were right on. My car drives SOOO nice now. Feels like new and I can now really attest to the quality of the Tein S-Tech's and Illuminas. Incredible feel.

Dealer says the power steering rack is a fairly routine thing to go bad, anyone else in here have this problem? Not sure how common it is, but I do know that mine was seriously out of whack and I'm now loving my car once more.
