Warpspeed Y-pipe

I'm thinking of buying one however I have a few questions.

1. What tools do I need to install this? I don't have a jack to lift my car though. Where can I get one?

2. Do I need any other aftermarket exhaust parts to realize the 12-15hp gain?

3. I don't know much at all about cars; will I be able to install this on my own or would I be better off paying a shop to do it?

Thanks!

If you have basic mechanical skills and patience, it shouldn't be a problem. The only things I had done before installing mine were oil changes and coolant flush. I prefer to use ramps if the wheels don't have to be removed for a particular job. A little safer imho if you don't have experience with a jack and stands. All can be found for cheap at Wal-Mart. I can't comment on the jacks or stands they carry, but I've got Rhino Ramps from there that I like. A swivel attachment will be needed to get to a couple of bolts. Something like PB Blaster to loosen the bolts will help. If your O2 sensors or belts need replaced, this is a good time. I'm sure other guys will chime in...

Also get a Haynes or Chilton manual if you decide to do any work yourself. Here's a dyno of intake only vs intake and y-pipe. http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/504

get some friends to help out and use http://www.cardomain.com/member_page...=255278&page=3 for instructions and equipment. it shouldn't be hard because all your doing is un-screwing and screwing bolts. Just soak some WD-40 or PB Blaster on each bolt so it'd be easier to get them off. Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm probably going to get ramps; I'd need four, right? Or am I only elevating the front/rear end? My auto experience goes as far as oil and oil filter changes. I just installed new rims today (tires came balanced and mounted) so I'm pretty n00bish. One other thing: is there a how-to that's specific to the Warpspeed Y-pipe or is a one-size-fits-all sort of thing where any How-to for any brand will do?

Two ramps raising the front wheels worked for me.

i did two ramps and two jack stands in the back, gave me an extra 3 inches of cleanrace so i could contort and roll around under the car, made a pretty good difference in room

make sure you have a pivot socket. that's a very important tool.

i don't think u can raise your car with 4 ramps. But two's fine. I really encourage you to just go for it. You'll learn more as you go. If you never do, then you'll never learn.

I will be attempting the same job too. What's another way to remove the O2 sensors if you don't have the sensor removal tool?
