Y pipe is misaligned, what can I do.

I got the budget Y pipe in August 2003. Then I got the budget B pipe. when I installed the b pipe i got this vibrating metal on metal noise.
turns out that the y pipe actually points left and only now did I notice because the old b pipe wasn't as wide. The whole exhaust Leans to far to one side.
What can i do to re align the y pipe.
I've heard maybe blow torch the mother until it is flexible enough to push it straight. I was also thinking of just getting headers+Y-pipe combo. not sure which to get yet. Stoneracing or Catman. Which is better? they both have the same specs.

Another side question. i got the b pipe without resonator. I need an new Muffler that doesn't sound like a dirtbike. I want to be able to hear the back firing when I down shift. But not explosive backfiring. just a nice grumble. Any suggestions?

Headers?...Don't do it, the gain over your already purchased y-pipe is only about 5whp in either application. It's up to you but the work it is going to take you and the $$ for the setup doesn't add up for the gains you get.

For your current y-pipe, just go to a muffler shop and have them straighten it out for you. The cost would be about $5-10 if that...it's just a simple 5 minute job for them.

Hope this helps...

Get the yellow pages and start calling around. Or drive around and look for muffler/exhaust shops and ask to speak to their manager for advice/see if they can give you a deal.

As far as local car clubs...check out the West Coast Region here on Maxima.org.

Getting in a local car club is one of the best things you can do for your car.
