A/F Gauge hookup
A/F Gauge hookup
This has been asked about countless times before, and i've seen diagrams for a 97+ max, but i want to know if it's the same for 95-96's. I just got a pretty, new Autometer C2 A/F gauge, and want it to work, lol. I just need to know which wire to connect it to.
For the 97's you can use either of these two :

i just want to be sure it's the same, and if not, which wires do i need to tap into?
thanks for the help
BTW - there are no solid instructions in the FAQ. i think there needs to be instructions for installing them, in a maxima obviously, not just general installation instructions. Yes i know you can find the right wire in chilton's or haynes, but i don't have mine here at school, and don't want to buy another one or go home to get it (way to much work to do to take the 4 to 5 hours outta my day to get it). Call me lazy if you will, but any help would be great.

i'm just not 100% percent positive, there are differences between 95-96 and 97-99's ECU, and i'm not sure if that's affected. Even though that's the cheapest gauge in the C2 line, it's still not cheap, and i would really hate to hook it up wrong and break it. (poor college kid, lol)
i know it's kinda stupid for N/A, but i got it mostly for asthetics, and in preparation for possible F/I this winter.
With that said, i'll be more than likely getting the MEVI and possibly JWT ECU at some point this summer (still debating on what i'm going to do about the ecu). I'm planning on using a Apexi V-AFC for the mevi engagement, and since it can control A/F slightly, it could be helpful if i decide to tweek it a bit. Albeit could be a bit off, but if i do F/I then all i have to do is install a wideband O2 sensor, and i'll already have the gauge. PLus this guy is selling a basically brand new nitrous express kit for a steal... he got caught with it by the cops one night, got a ticket, so his parents are making him get rid of it...

Just go under the hood. Theres 3 wires on the sensor harness, car side not O2 sensor side, ones a ground - ones a hot - ones the signal wire to the ECU. Splice into the signal wire. If you choose the ground the guage will not work. If you choose the hot the guage will have a constant 12 volt reading. If you choose the signal wire the guage will shoot to rich upon engine startup, then settle back to a notch or two above lean at operating temperature (in my case anyway). There is no way to damage the guage if youd rather attempt the ECU. I'd be worried about damaging the ECU!
that's good info, i knew i could do it that way, but i would like to know if the ecu's have the same wire hookups... sorry, call me weird.
Also, what exactly do you mean by "car side, not O2 sensor side"?
