I have the Vibrant FSTB on order and I know I have to cut off that bracket but what is it for? If the other yrs. don't have it then what is different about the 99 maximas that might possibly use the bracket? Thanks.

Don't know. I've never seen it used for anything. Perhaps it is used for something on Maximas built for destinations other than USA or Canada.

Thanks Daniel. I am sure I won't need it for anything so I will just hack it off.

The A32 sedan was discontinued about a year earlier in Japan. Nissan changed the part bins for the A33. The same bracket is being used on the 5th gen. If you open up the hood of a 99 and that of a 00 and park them side-by-side, you will notice that the small mounting hole is used by the 4th gen & the bigger one (the one that's blocking the FSTB) is used by the 5th gen.

Funny, huh?
