Just had the Max tinted

i finally got around to getting my baby tinted today, and boy can i say i am super satisfied with the results. I got 15% all around, and it looks fantastic. At night, no one can see in. I got it done at Sunbusters in Milwaukee after another org memeber recommended them. 180 total for everything and lifetime warranty. Good deal. LLumar tint was used. Ill be putting up pics tomorrow probably if i can i find my camera.

lol....

for all you nashville Tn area peeps....

their is a place in madison called Kustom Kars

$85 for 35% tint

add $20 for 20% tint and state of TN sticker saying tint is street legal.

this is for all 4 door cars.

sunroof is $20 extra

takes them 2 hours.

I could be wrong, but isn't that level of tint illegal in WI? My friend got pulled over in Superior, WI and the COP said take the tint off or it wil be an $800 fine.

yeah, it's illegal, the legal percent is 35% or something i think. but thats alright. We'll see what happens. There's so many cars here that have tinted windows, and no one gets hassled. Knowing my luck, just because i said that, ill get pulled over

WI is 50% front 35% back, the fine is about $150 and you dont have to take the tint off, you can just pay and be careful about getting puller over, ive never heard of anyone getting pulled over in WI JUST for tint, you have to speeding or somthing too. I have radar, ive never been pulled over in the max

EDIT: I have 5% all around............

Man, you guys are lucky. Here in IA, we're not allowed to tint our front windows AT ALL. The rears can be "painted black" according to a local detailing shop...that's how little they care about the back. I gotta get out of this state and go back to CA.

Sucks around here as far as cost for tinting goes. It seems the standard in my area for tint on a four door is $225. What a friggin racket!

There are many factors involved in window tinting. Again, you get what you pay for in most cases I would assume. Remember that there are different brands of tint, each with different qualities.

Also, it depends what you get with tinting the windows - service, warranty, etc. The guy who tinted my windows was very precise, like a perfectionist. I've seen many cars with good quality tints, but a horrible tint job.

I had all my windows tinted for $200 with a lifetime warranty - you can't go wrong with that, now can you?

This is true. For $225 I'm expecting the best titanium and the perfect install with a lifetime guarantee. I will ask the right questions to find out what is being offered for this kind of cash.

Limits refer to light transmission. A 30% limit means at least 30% of the light must penetrate the tinting. So 30% means that 70% of the light can be blocked.

the place i went to wouldnt put 5% on the front windows. i would have done that, but they would have done 5 in the back and 15% in the front. I wanted the windows to look equal, so i went with 15% all around. 180 for llumar and lifetime, helluva deal

I think when people say "all around" they generally mean everything except the windshield. If you tint your windshield dark you're probably doubling your chance of getting a tint ticket.

eckohb, did the $180 include sunroof tinting?

tinting your car is harder then you think... the guy who does the tinting at the shop i work for has been doing it for about 2 years, i have tried tinting a few cars but its the shrinking the tint, having no air bubbles part that gets you...

most side windows are fairly flat so no shrinking is required, but the rear windshield i know for a fact is a B*tch... not to mention the tint alone is expensive, and if you mess up a few times, the 130 - 200$ looks mighty good...

good quality tint is a must, llumar is one of the best in the business, lifetime warrenty and will never fade...

walmart brand tint, will turn purple in under 6 months, i gurantee it...

idk, i think this is one of the few things you should leave up to a reputible shop... saves you hassle, and allows you to point fingers at someone else if something goes wrong

do they tint the inside or the outside of the window? and when tinting, do you have to buy the tint or shops supply it?

Depends on the state you live in. Google it or call a detailing place.

You can see the before and after pics of my 20% LLumar job on my website.

Naked windows are cool for about a week, but I am used to having privacy.

how much does tinting help keep the car cooler? i havnt had my max through a summer yet but it gets up to 105 here so inside car temperatures are a lot hotter. black leather isnt gonna feel very nice in that weather.

front windshiled is big time illegal and theres no way to get around it. if u did that, when u went through inspection, u would get failed no matter what. at least with the front 2 windows, u can roll down the windows and u might get passed it.

yeah, my black leather will feel like a oven. so tinting keeps the car cooler by letting less light pas into the interior. the exterior i will cover will a car cover or garage it.
