Are the H-Techs good with GR2's?

I don't think anyone asked this yet, so far its been about the S-Techs, unless i'm stupid and can't read right...

I already have GR2s running on stock springs and am considering Tokico and H&R springs, mostly leaning to H&R

EDIT: A big concern of mine is that I have heavy subs in the trunk, right now on stock springs the back of the car sags, not much but its noticable. I want to get rid of that...

Polishpunk, you will probably need something with a little more front drop than the H&R's. I am not sure about the drop from Tokico's, but the Tein's drop the front a little more than the H&R's do.

Thanks for the info and comments, Flavor.
hey bruce...i noticed you've been doing a lot of suspension research lately. and i know you have maxspeed springs laying around somewhere, let me provide you some other info:

1. i know quite a good number of people running maxspeed on stock shocks and still live with it
2. if ur planning to go for springs like maxspeed and H&R, GR2 should definetly be enough
3. i'm running tokico blues with maxspeed, me and regime (daniel) gonna install it today. norcal roads are pretty smooth, i wouldn't even worry about it.
4. nadir_s has been running eibach on on stock SE shocks for awhile, he seems okay with it
5. y2ksteve is running tein H on stock shocks...
6. don't listen to 1fstmax, ur not being cheap, ur just looking for the right combination and putting more effort into research. u can probably get same quality and cheaper price if you search around ebay or look for used suspension parts.
7. metallic97gxe got his two front pair of GR2s brand new for $60 on ebay, he's runnning stock shocks in the rear, maxspeed springs, and he's a happy man
8. i got my tokico blues for $175 shipped to my door. although it has 10k on sprint springs before, the shocks still look great. i doubt my maxspeed will put too much stress on tokico HP. also the road is very smooth, i'm not worry at all.
9. my friend's koni yellow shocks on skunk2 coilovers without any dustboots are still in A++ condition after 2 years.

just some more additional info for you. hopefully it'll help

thanks, man, for all the info. I really appreciate it. I have been searching for quite some time. I just don't want to have to do this all over again. I want to get it right the first time, and then enjoy that I made the right decision for me. There is nothing wrong with research, right?

What you posted was very helpful.
I will take all that into consideration.
I almost bought those HP's that you have. Probably the same ones. I just heard that they could not even handle a drop at all, but needed to be used with the stock springs. I don't know. You can get a million different answers our of different people.
I cannot believe you remember that I have those Maxspeeds. I would not remember what anyone else has on their car. ha ha
Anyway, I have still not decided to get rid of the Maxspeeds. They were cheap to me(esp compared to something like H&R's or Eibach's even used) and that is why I got them in the first place. I mean, I may just get some GR2's and be done with it. I will probably research until the day I get whatever I get. I missed a good deal on some AGX's a little while back, but that is okay. I will find another one.

Thanks again...

My friend has had his tokico blues with Sprints on his auto for close to 2yrs and has had no problems. They ride kinda harsh with the sprints, alot harsher then my Sprint and kyb set up, but theyve lasted.

It's like why even bother modding if you don't want to spend money? If you want good stuff, you have to pay for it. If you don't go for a good strut, you (Brudaddy) will come back to the org complaining about the ride like most people do. I don't know how good the GR2's are but I know the Illumias are better in everyway possible (after having the top of the line KYB strut).

From running S-tech wit GR2s the ride comfort and handle has been great. It is only harsh over potholes and dips like any other drop. I think if I would of went with H-tech w/ GR2s the ride comfort would have been most enjoyable. That's my opinion since I sorta like the comfort over the drop. And GR2s aren't that cheap of struts they are more stiffer that stock which the tociko HPs sorta lack. It's more of knowing how much you can handle rather than spend it all big unless you're a baller and an hardcore enthusiast then go for it.

I understand all that perfectly. However, there is a lot of leeway between what some people say is good, and some people say is crap. I know you have to pay for good stuff, but I also know that a lot of stuff in this world is overrated and you should not pay unnecessarily for it. I am just trying to wade through all that crap to get to what is right for me.
What do you think....I will whine and blame someone for recommending something to me. Sorry, but I don't do that kind of thing.

In order to weed through the crap, you have to take someones word over another and the forum is here to help you make decisions on what's good and what's bad.

Enough members have been here long enough to know what is trash and what not so you have to find the people that know what they're talking about put some trust in their personal reviews of products.

I see it this way, if you want to mod then you should research whatever you're buying to make sure its going to last a good amount of time for the money you spend. You should also determine whether you are getting the highest HP per dollar if it's a power mod.

Back to the struts, the Illuminas are not trash and they are worth the money.

Also who made you a suspension wiz? Have you personally tried all the suspension set up's that are available for the Maxima? How can you give an opinion on a set up you have'nt tried?

yeah, I have been trying to say all of that, but I constantly get criticized for researching and digging for facts.

Anyway, I don't think the Illuminas are trash. In fact, they are probably the best. Not because they are the most expensive, but because everyone I hear talk about them just loves them. How long they will last is another thing. They have not been out enough years to tell, really.

I just think they are way way way too expensive. If money were no object, I would get those, without a doubt. If I can find them used, I might still end up with some. Otherwise, I am trying to find alternate routes.

How are my comments gay? Maybe you should not be driving a maxima, if you can't afford a decent set of struts. Go buy a civic.
