ok did you change both resistors? cuz for some reason the resistor I changed on mine was the one madchef said it would help with the "CD erro" (the one on the left) and I haven't changed the other one (looked fine) but now That my display works, sometimes I see the "CD err" shown up.
my advice is change both of them.

here Is a tread i started a cople of days ago:

WHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. i just changed the other resistor as well and now my display works!!!!! thanks sooooooo much madchef, and all. I suggest replacing both resistors no matter what is wrong with the unit (no display, or poor sound) as that solved the problem. i measured both of the resistors that came with the circuit and both were 470 EXACTLY, the ones that i got from radio shack were 463 exactly (both), so it must have just been a bad connection or something cause the resistors should have worked. Thanks again you have no idea how excited i am!

Glad to hear, oh and Guinader, the second fix is not a fix for the "CD Err" problem...rather it just fixes a problem where you have no audio, or very faint audio.

To fix the "CD Err" problem you will have to re-solder all the resistors (just take them off, put them back on). Sorry, but I wasn't able to narrow down which resistor it was, but I assure you I did fix the "CD Err" problem by just doing them all =)
