100 octane = no hesitation ...

Got bored at work today, so a guy I work with convinced me to get some 100 octane on our lunch break for the hell of it.

Well, off to Sunoco we went and got about 5 gallons of the stuff (on top of the 1/8th of a tank of 93 I had in there). Rather expensive at 4.29 a gallon, but what better way to spend $20?

Anyway, after putting about 10-15 miles on it and getting it all mixed in with the 93, the car feels pretty good! I mean, it just accellerates MUCH smoother and seems more eager to do so. I doubt there are any HP gains that are worth noting, but it just feels better. And, my 1-2 and 2-3 shift hesitation seems to be just about gone ... so at the very least I've pretty much figured that my hesitation is due to the knock sensor, not the coil packs - or at least it seems logical.

The best part ... after it runs through a bit, get out and sniff your exhaust smells like paint thinner, lol.

you should reset the ecu, and let it adjust to the fuel again and it could raise timing more ? im going to start using it at the track and want to add an upgraded ignition to see if it would help even more.

cool stuff though !!

A stock ECU only has certin timing advancement that it will run when there is no knock. It's not like it will keep advancing timing until it detects knock. I really don't think reseting the ECU will do anything. All those theories about reseting an ECU after a mod are just that, theories.
