Dust boot question

I noticed that my kyb dust boot was half way down the strut shaft and I was wondering how do you all get it to stay at the stopper in the pic? The original dust boots have a small lip on the inner edge that keeps it from slipping past the stopper but the kyb doesn't.

You can use tie straps/cable ties.

Hmm did you install it? I'm pretty sure that its suppose to stop on the stopper all the time. Hence bump stop/stopper if not there will be more travel.
People usually zip tie the bottom of the boot. I think a washer goes on the stopper and ontop of that goes the dust boot. Again not 100% sure haven't done a install with kyb boots in a while.

Yes I did install it. It does stop at the bump if you're pulling it towards the threaded end but moves freely in the other direction. That's bad since the shaft becomes exposed. The original boot works exactly the opposite but with the original, the washer that you are talking about, stops it from coming off. You'll notice the bump has a small lip...well the original boot does not pass that lip when you're installing it but the kyb has to be pressed over it in order for the washer to reach the bump. Once you press it over there is nothing to stop it from traveling further down the shaft.

Anyone installed dust boots recently? Suggestions please.

I just put the KYB's bump stops on the front and back recently.

If you think about it, it really does not matter if they slide down a bit. For one, if the bump stops are needed when bottoming out, they will be pushed back up to the top. Second, the part of the shaft that really needs protected is the part that goes in and out of the housing. The top 1/2 inch will never be compressed into the housing.
