Which Intake mod is best paired up with a Y-PIPE?

I was just reading motorvate's analysis of his budget y-pipe (http://www.motorvate.ca/mvp.php/504) and he said that he had a stillen cone filter already on the car. Was this an important factor in the overall performance of the car AFTER the y-pipe was put in (even more so than before the y-pipe?). Do you guys recommend I get a cone filter as well? or should i just go for a complete HAI/CAI intake system? Wouldn't JUST the cone filter be cheaper? Thanks.

Depends on what driving you do with it. I like my low end power more, so I stick with the stock airbox. If you want better high end power, get a CAI or HAI.

I would go get a custom 2.5" b-pipe from a local muffler shop for like $50. Should add like 5 hp at the crank. Good to add to your y-pipe.

^^^ What? You lose top end pull with the CAI, it doesn't pull as strong at higher speeds as the Hybrid. They are all pretty much the same things and their advantages and disadvantages cancel out. B-pipe is 2-3hp at most and a muffler shop one with the crappy bends won't even get you that.

just think, intake gets air in the engine faster, and the y get it out faster. good combo.

ok.... so what do you think of adding JUST a stillen cone filter?? is it worth it? Or should I go for the full intake (CAI/HAI)???

i enjoy bomz racing short ram w/ JWT filter. good mid-range gain (where the sweet spot of VQ is), throttle response is also better than my previous CAI setup.

We should arrange a meet so we can do a "Pepsi Challenge" between intakes.

I have doubts that you can tell the difference between them (aside from how they look/sound)
