Why do you Mod???

This might have been done before but.....

I know that we all think that Maximas are the greatest cars to buy that are within a reasonable price range, but if they are so great, why do we spend the money that could possible have us all in G35's, TL, Etc., to hook up a Max.

Personally I have been modding things since I was about 6yrs old. From bikes to remote controlled cars and planes. I was a ricer for a while and it didn't really do anything for me, but then I discovered Maximas and that was it for me. Who's to say that I won't get a little more money and be able to afford and Audi RS6, but until then I am Max Modding cause I love these cars.

I wanted a 4-door car for the accessibility.
I wanted a stick for the sport's feel.
I wanted power to make the 4-door not feel like a "4-door".

I got the maxima and mod the maxima becuase it is all of those things, and then some. I love it.
(The other car I was deciding between was the 99 VW Jetta VR6, but it would have been more expensive to mod and work on. The two cars are almost dead even is so many categories. They were both really close in price too. Down here in the South, nobody knows anything about VW's...Plus I had a maxima and other Nissans before.)

It's fun!

It's just a lot of fun to customize my car, setting it apart from stock model and adding new features only available in brand new cars.

I dom't blame you. I love the way the stock 16s look. I just wish they were 18s or 19s, so thats why I mod

I once heard that there was a company remanufacturing stock rims in bigger sizes...I don't know how much truth there was to that, but I would be so happy to have my stocks in 18's. I have been meaning to try the wheel off of my 04 on my 99, but the wheather here sucks lately.

If I had 40 G's at the time I bought my max, a G35 MAY have been the way to go, but since the SEL was more bang for the bux I could spend at the time, why let it pass me by? That car was a rare find imo. It was on the Lexus of Hoffman Estates lot and they wanted it GONE! I had never heard of a limited max until that very day. I traded my 3 stage Pearl 3rd gen SE in for my SEL anyway, so I was movin on up anyway.

I'm all go, and no show (well clear corners, ****). I like the extra boost of power, and the sound that comes along with it. I chose the max out of the need for a four door car with some performance, and it comes with the added bonus of being able to sound mostly stock through the low revs, and then screaming up high ...

I am trying to achieve maximum power without a lot of sound. I want to car to see as stock as possible from the outside and sound like it just came off the assembly line.

I like modding everything I own (car, bike, computer, etc), if possible, to make me the happiest possible. That usually means making it perform faster or better, but sometimes (not often) it means making it look a certain way, or sometimes even just something to mark it as distincively "mine". I'm especially attached to my Max, since it's my first car, and therefore like my first love...

...but I haven't actually modified anything about the car yet, unless you count the headlight and foglight bulbs. I suck. =(

I dunno why I actually did any modification on my car. maybe because I wanted to see how my car would look like; and because I could (I had the money for)

Off topic: Is there any NEW CAR (2000+) on the market, with the same performance capabilities and cheap as a 95 max? (hope everyone understand what I mean)

IMHO, I don't like the looks of any of the new cars out there. Well, the new mustang looks hot, but I won't fit my family in it too well.

I've thought of getting a new(er) Maxima several times; I just can't get over how ugly they've become. Personally, I think the 4th Gen is the best looking Maxima on the planet.

Not only that, but whenever I consider spending $30k+ on a new car, I think: "Hmm...$30k on a new car, or $15k in mods to my Maxima?" It's a no brainer.

I'd rather have a 4th Gen doing 11s than a 5th/6th gen doing 14s.

I really like my car. I did a lot of stereo work when I first bought it, but that was just stuff transfered over from my 92 Maxima. I put my rims and tires around 40k or so but that was it for the next 60k. I did not really start doing peformance mods to my car until I hit 100k or so. I mainly concentrated on the suspension, as I felt that was where I my car needed work on. I began having fun with the car all over again. It was like having a new car. Our family's next car will probably be a used Armada a couple of years down the line(kids are getting bigger), but hopefully my Max will still be with me .

i've always like messing with cars. just feeling the performance increase from something YOU did to your car is great. and the recognition of others is wonderful. i just love to make my car unique. not many modded Maximas here in PA besides the usual 3rd gen max rollin on 20's.

I mod my car because I mod everything. I started with computers, then I overclocked my Palm Pilot. However, I prefer to keep my car as a sleeper (no external stuff) because 1) it won't attract attention and 2) I can surprise people with the car's unexpected performance.

Sleepers are the best. I am not in it to impress with rims and bodykits. I do it for the thrill of the hunt (killing ricers).

Sleeper Maximas don't present race opportunities.

No one, and I mean no one even cosiders me at a light. I'd have to rev to red-line for anyone to think I'd like to race.

I don't really care all that much, so it's all good.

I'm not too much into looks but i have it were it counts (body kit, clears, rims). Mostly i love to mod for the prue enjoyment that i can bring mustangs and cameros to their knees. Performance is my game.
