Clearing an Air Bag indicator light

It just came on and won't go off (blinking). 99 Max w/ 78K mi.
I understand there is a way to clear it to see if it comes back on or not. Any help out there?

Yeah, what you do is sit in the car with the driver's door open and your key in the off position. Then turn the key to on. Quickly, press your door switch in 6-7 times fast. You should see your air bag lamp start to flash a code, maybe 2 slow blinks, then a fast one. That is opposed to the steady blink. You can either turn the key back off, or start the car, it shouldn't matter. I have found that if the weather is warm, the blinking will go right away. If it were cold, it would continue with the diag flash, and then when the weather warms up, the flash goes away. Point is that if you leave it with the steady flash, it will never go away because it's telling you to go and get it diag.

Good luck.

I have a 99 max also with about 106k, my light also came on, except last week, I got it diagnosed today for free and they said a cable must have been hit under the passenger side and now I need a new PASSENGER SIDE airbag and there is no way to just do a rewire...that will cost about $500 and the little door trick won't work -_-

My suggestion is to see if you can find out what the problem is first by takin it in. I still dunno what i am gonna do but I have been messin with the wires underneath the passenger seat to see if they are all in good condition and stuff. I have read a lot about this on this forum and I am thinkin about conatactin nissan cause if everytime my GF or someone gets in the car I have to worry about having to buy a new airbag caus ehtye might hit a wire?? Well either way this is BS. Let me know if u hear anything.

airbag light

I have a 98 with about 97 K and it has been on for about 2 years or so. My solution was to put a piece of electical tape over it so it doesnt distract me. I saw the thread on dismantling to guages in an attempt to take out the light, so i might try that when i get home from school so i actually have time.

there is no way that i am going to spend the money to get it fixed cause chances are that it will come back on. it is BS
